Airehead Posted March 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2022 Gluten free, vegan. On the rotation this week because I have never cooked with jackfruit. https://hurrythefoodup.com/vegan-gluten-free-recipes/
Airehead Posted March 20, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted March 20, 2022 I read that cooked properly jackfruit is bursting with flavor, succulent and juicy, with crispy edges that can rival any barbecued pork on the market. When not cooked properly, jackfruit can be bitter, watery, and bland.
jsharr ★ Posted March 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2022 Jackfruit would make a good sock puppet name

It’s a great— arguably the best — meat substitute.

ChrisL Posted March 21, 2022 Share #14 Posted March 21, 2022 My dad liked it and ate it raw but I honestly don’t remember much about it. My mom didn’t have it around after he died. As I was typing the above my memory was of him cutting it in 1/2 & scooping out little pods of fruit with a spoon. I UTFG and came upon this image which is what I had envisioned.
Airehead Posted March 21, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted March 21, 2022 I learned if it is ripe that it is delicious raw. If it is green cook it.
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted March 21, 2022 Share #16 Posted March 21, 2022 Never mind the jackfruit. How much pot does a jackfruit pot pie recipe call for, and can you get that at Wegman's too?
