BiL recovering well this morning

Thanks for all the prayers and vibes folks!

My sister Donna's been at the hospital since 6 am - too early for visitor hours but as a recently retired career Johns Hopkins senior nurse, she's got the run of the place.  She's been sending positive updates.

Brian's already going stir crazy this morning and hates having to stay in bed.  He's hoarse from having tubes down his throat during the operation yesterday: they had to collapse the lung they worked on and send a tube of oxygen to the other lung. He says his bruised ribs (stretched open to reach his lung), incision, etc. are causing a pain level of about 3 out of 10.

They expect to keep him for observation about six more days after today.

It may take a while to get the biopsy report of the tumor removed with the lung lobe.  All signs look promising for a complete cure.

This. It’s his turn to do good by the recovery process now that the surgeons have given their part. Thanks for the update. 🙏🏼

Will they try to get him up to walk around? I was up the next day, just to walk around the room. But 2 days after I had to walk the halls. IIRC, day 3, I walked an hour my doc told me to walk. It was difficult because of all the stuff plugged into me I was told a 7 day stay is standard for this type of surgery. And a surgeon said, "if anything is going to happen its not immediate, its usually day 5" and of course he told me this on day 5

By the way, on the way to Johns Hopkins Hospital yesterday, we saw the Ever Forward, the sister-ship of the one that blocked the Suez Canal last year and that ran aground in the Chesapeake Bay recently.  We were crossing over the Francis Scott Key Bridge and wasn't very far away.  Still aground!  They're dredging around it and hope to float it in "days."
