Airehead Posted April 2, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2022 Tree and Flower pictures, please. How are things doing with spring blooming? @Dirtyhip 1
Popular Post Page Turner Posted April 2, 2022 Popular Post Share #2 Posted April 2, 2022 ...I don't know how DH's Spring is progressing, but the citrus orchard is in full bloom right now. I spent an hour and a half on a bench out there, reading and listening to the bees buzzing around. They've been late to show up, but I guess it's hard to resist this much food in a concentrated area, so they finally decided to come over and do some work. Fruit set on the cherries again looks sparse, but it's too early to predict the apple crop, which also looks questionable in terms of flowering and fruit set. Some years are just like that. The azaleas and rhododendron are also in full blossom, but I don't have many of them. Just fillers here and there. 5
Popular Post Page Turner Posted April 2, 2022 Popular Post Share #3 Posted April 2, 2022 ...the Banks rose is just about bloomed out now. (This photo is from a couple of weeks ago.) But the earliest single red rose, "Altissimo", is starting its first flush. 5

My next door neighbor has a dandelion ranch. I try not to grow them for fear I'll be tempted to eat them.
shootingstar Posted April 2, 2022 Share #7 Posted April 2, 2022 Some snow showers are predicted tonight. Our area doesn't get real blooms unless after 3rd wk. in May at earliest...after Victoria Day Monday which is holiday in CAnada. Yes, that is named after Queen Victoria. As soon as one sees green mist of tree leaf bud...then you know the air will stay warm.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted April 2, 2022 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2022 Dandelions are popping up here. I don’t try to kill them off as they’re good for pollinators. The front garden is doing well. The hostas are unfurling rapidly. We wrapped the vegetable garden with netting to keep the stilt rats out. Carrots, spinach and peas are popping up.

dinneR ★ Posted April 4, 2022 Share #10 Posted April 4, 2022 Snowing here. The landscaping at my building sucks and I now the pleasure of paying $27.50/month for it. I don't think my landlord understands the meaning of HOA fee. 1

Thanks. ...if you decide to grow roses, the English roses from David Austin's breeding efforts are very fine roses. I have grown four or five of them in the past, like Gertrude Jekyll and Graham Thomas. They have an old rose shape, with good scent for the most part. I don't really have room for them in this garden, because all the sunny space has fruit trees and stuff. We all must cultivate our garden.

groupw Posted April 5, 2022 Share #26 Posted April 5, 2022 I transplanted some aloe plants given to us by someone clearing some out. One has a long stem of blossoms ready to open at any time. I’ll get photos later.
MickinMD ★ Posted April 5, 2022 Share #27 Posted April 5, 2022 I waiting for the weather to be dry and in the 60's. I need to mow the lawn. I need to build two 12' x 4' x 12" high raised beds. I need to move some dirt piles away from where I'll have a fence put up this spring and into the beds. I bought the potting soil I'll use to grow my veggie garden seeds today. Tomorrow, I'll buy two cheap tray tables at Walmart to put under my enclosed porch's sunny windows to grow them. The seeds, plastic pot 6-packs, trays, labels, and watering can I ordered from Amazon are supposed to arrive April 5-8.

goldendesign Posted April 5, 2022 Share #29 Posted April 5, 2022 Garden is doing great. Already had a complete bloom of the Iris's and the Blue-my-minds have recovered fairly well from the few frosts we had this winter. The vegetable garden is going gangbusters: Cherry tomatoes are already producing multiple clusters, the heirloom plant is getting crazily big, the peppers are all producing (sweet pepper, jalapeno, yellow bell) and the basil, green onion, parsley, and sage have produced wonderfully all winter. All from a few "porch" planters 1
