I suppose I could take 1 of my bird photos. I have a good one, of a chickadee

Chickadee?  I would suggest an owl instead, but then I'm a little biased in that regard.  i would suggest you contact the Richardson Avatar and Coffee Grinding Service.  I hear they do good work on avatars.

You never disappoint...

Well sometimes you do.  Actually more than we care to mention.  But you did good here.

Well, I wouldn't take someone else's work.

I have taken 2 personal photos of a bulky Great Horned Owl.  It would look kinda of massive lump. I love  Saw-wet  owls..so cute looking.

I don't want to show my chickadee on saddle yet since would like to use it for a blog post  also soon.  When the bird landed on my saddle, I was so surprised and charmed.  So cute.

...speaking only from what I've learned in design classes, an avatar is one of those small pictures that benefits from both color and concept, with strong, solid lines, and minimal detail.  Thus cartoons make good avatars, because they are usually designed with those same features in mind, and are printed small, for the most part.
