I was just on the phone one of our sales guys and connected remotely to his laptop at the same time trying to get his home printer to work with it. I clicked on his web browser to find and download an updated driver, and that's when it got weird.  He had his web browser open already looking at porn.  There was a moment of quiet awkwardness...  I closed the window, downloaded the driver on my computer and transferred it to his laptop.

Was he at work or on a work computer?

He was on a work computer, yes.  The sales guys work from home, but they make their own hours for the most part.  The do a lot of driving to customers businesses.

I think I know where you're going with this.  No, I won't say anything to anybody.  We don't even work for the same company anymore.  He'll be migrated over to the company that bought them soon and I won't be supporting them anymore.

I used to work at a startup in the IT Department.  We had a VP of Sales who was eccentric, extremally narcissistic and a complete asshole.

One day we had to work on his laptop and we found CP and other pornography on it.  We reported it to our managers and he blamed us for putting the files on his laptop!  He claimed we set him up.  Anyway, he was 'anonymously" reported to the local authorities and nothing much happened.

I was soon caught in a bunch of layoffs after the event.   Fun times.

For 1 of the global firms I worked for,  a guy did get fired for looking at porn on the job. It slowed down the computer...now this was about 25 yrs. ago. It was at a national headquarters location, same bldg. where I worked.

I am aware our Corporate Security dept. plus IT has software that can /is tracking employees on their activities when using our corporate assets.  The reason why I know there is a direct relationship between my group and Corporate Security:  we are aware of what their software can do.

So Ontario wants to pass provincial legislation where employers for more than 25 employees, should tell their employees that they are being tracked on their network wanderings, etc.  Ontario Is Making It Mandatory For Bosses To Tell Workers Exactly How They're Being Tracked (msn.com)

Honest, if as employee you know already you're being tracked and what is absolutely unacceptable as per corporate policy, it's not a huge deal. Not really, it shouldn't be since one is being paid to work and use corporate resources appropriately.

Well, software will be made cheaper to track even cheaper, so that 25  person minimum won't have to be there. I guess it's to save small business owners hassle/cost / time or whatever.

We saw porn on client PCs all the time at my old job. For the most part, harmless. We did find things a few times that required phone calls to authorities.
The most awkward moment was working on a guys PC in his home office. I didn’t like the guy, but he usually left on a sales call once he showed me the problem.
One time he couldn’t get a presentation video to play. I spent about an hour running scans and updates. His wife was in and out of the office a few times. She was very hot and very nice. At one point she said she normally wasn’t in the office much because she didn’t feel welcome when he was in there with clients, but I was different. Ooookkay…At that moment, the video player started playing a video of a woman masturbating with a tub faucet with sound of her moaning. Luckily the monitor was facing away from her and I was able to get the video shut down and the presentation video working before she got to the desk! The guy was a jerk, but I didn’t need to make her life worse. That was the last visit there. He usually had me come out in the fall when he was getting ready to sell seed for next season. I left my company before it was time to go back.
