She plays and wins in such a low-key fashion, it seems hard to believe that if she wins today, she will likely move into 11th or 12th position on the all-time regular Jeopardy winnings list.  :o

If she wins today, she will probably move into 8th place on the all-time winnings list and must certainly be considered as one of the best players ever.  She has had a few close calls, and could have easily lost on those occasions, but she didn't.  I doubt that she can pass Amy on the list, but she has had a great run, no matter what happens.

Did you see here interview on GMA this morning?  A very smart and talented 23 yo young lady who has no idea of a direction in life.

No, I didn't.  But she is only 23.  Hopefully, she will eventually find a path that suits her desires as well as her talents and abilities.

Amazing that she has so much knowledge at only 23.

Something happens in Final Jeopardy tonight that very seldom occurs.  It's happened before, but I don't ever remember seeing it, for some reason.  :scratchhead:

I lost track of time and we missed it.  What happened?

Darn, that's sweet!  Top 4 is where it is at, though!

She has had a few nailbiters but emerged victorious each time - cool!

I know.  I think she has had a bit of luck on her side on a few occasions.  Super knowledgeable, but just a little lucky at times, as well.  I guess that might be necessary in order to win 18 straight days over 36 other very smart people.

Spoiler for tonight's show 4/29

Spoiler

Another case where she could have easily lost in Final Jeopardy, but didn't.  But how many of today's 23 year-olds are even aware that Mussorgsky ever existed?  Much less know about his most famous work, “Pictures at an Exhibition”?

It seems - as a player proceeds - that luck decreases as their "buzzer advantage" builds.  Luck will eventually get them - a bad day and/or bad luck at the worst time - but the inherent edge given to a returning player shows that this top 10 list will be steadily updated until there is a cluster of Kens/Matts $$$ amounts in those slots.  IOW, surprisingly soon, $1M will be the top 10 cutoff.

As a counterpoint, I like this, as more of her personality comes across.  She's not just a trivia-spouting robot.

She really knows a lot for a young person. More about US history than some Americans of the same age.

This is what amazes me.  She knows stuff that I would never expect her to know.  General McClellan and the battle of Antietam?  Not to be sexist or ageist, but the Civil War just isn't something that I would expect a young woman of today to be interested in or have much knowledge of.  Or a young man either, for that matter.

I hate Civil War history but Antietam is sort of a top ten word related to it.

The US Civil war is but a mention in school.  She must be a history student.
