Popular Post maddmaxx ★ Posted May 8, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 8, 2022 Home from the races. Mothers day created a smaller turnout than usual but the rain was gone. The wind however was not, blowing at about 15 tp 20 mph in a cross wind near the finish line. There were not many gassers, but one of them was very fast and I've got my hands full racing it. The owner was busy running the racing so he tapped another driver to drive. That driver was my mentor, one of the beasts of Outlaw class and a shoe in to qualify for Florida and the big end of season race there. He cuts great lights. He went red against me in the finals however but it didn't matter as I drove around him at the high end for the win in Gas. That's the 3rd out of 3 for me going back to last year. I ran a PB of 3.28 in Gasser qualifying. On to Bracket class with "Gotcha" in it's first race. First round red by 0.007 seconds, rats, wait..........the other lane went red by 0.009 and I get the win on a double red. Semi finals I win with a 0.003 reaction time . In the finals I had to race my mentor again and he cut a brilliant light and I'm not going to get to the finish first..............wait.............about 20 feet from the finish the wind lifts him off like a 727 climbing out and he does a complete back flip as I motor past in amazement..................wait................I ran 3.29 on a 3.30 dial in and he gets the win. It was all so funny that I couldn't even get bummed about losing a final............by 0.001 seconds. All in all a good day for mothers and for milliseconds. Pics and perhaps videos available later when the photographer posts them. The Gasser field is getting quicker and my early season edge is slowly eroding. More days in the secret lab. What's for dinner? 4

They do however have their noses way up above the front axle to maintain the scale appearance of the 1960's gassers so there is potential there to catch wind. The outlaws have a problem with wind but it's usually more of getting moved sideways in a cross wind when they are doing 70 mph.
