Rattlecan ★ Posted May 9, 2022 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2022 Yes. One time, I threw one out the window, and a minute later, I felt my leg burning. Damn thing had blown right back in the window and landed on my leg. It's been just over 45 years since I smoked though.

MoseySusan Posted May 9, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted May 9, 2022 My dad used the vehicle ashtrays and makeshift containers to collect butts until he could throw them into a wastebasket. My brothers flicked their butts away.

No. I've always hated when people do that. I quit in 1995. In 1997 I bought a new car a drove six of us to the marina where my 21-foot pleasure boat was so we could troll for rockfish (striped bass). It was the first time I let anyone smoke in the car and made everyone with the ashtrays. It took two weeks to get the smoke smell out of the car and I've never let anyone smoke in my car again!

Popular Post Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted May 10, 2022 Popular Post Share #11 Posted May 10, 2022 Yes to both. I started smoking in 1974 and quit in 1989. On my 28th birthday I realized I’d been smoking half of my life. Time to quit. That and the woman I was dating wasn’t fond of my habit. I quit the holiday I went to meet her parents. ‘Twasnt easy but I’m over that now. We’ve been married 32 years now. 3

MoseySusan Posted May 10, 2022 Author Share #13 Posted May 10, 2022 There’s a chance the wildfire burning in the canyons north of Santa Fe started from a tossed cigarette butt. The other one was a prescribed burn that got away in the wind.
KrAzY Posted May 10, 2022 Share #14 Posted May 10, 2022 cigs I would toss in the trash or pop can, but cigars I would toss wherever.. since they technically didn't have anything that didn't come from nature, they broke down fast

ChrisL Posted May 10, 2022 Share #16 Posted May 10, 2022 Never smoked but I cited many a smoker for throwing an incendiary device from a moving vehicle. That I recall it was a $350 ticket in the late 80’s.

donkpow Posted May 10, 2022 Share #22 Posted May 10, 2022 Out the window, yes, but never a hot butt. I would knock the ashes and embers off the end of the fag into the ashtray and toss the cold butt out the window. Basically just the filter. Parr8hed Posted May 10, 2022 Share #23 Posted May 10, 2022 I tried a cigarette one time in a bar in Okinawa called the Fujiyama. It didn’t go well and I never tried again. But I hate it when people throw the butts on the ground.
donkpow Posted May 10, 2022 Share #24 Posted May 10, 2022 My tool box was always full of butts. Like I said, I stripped the butt and disposed of the papered butt separately. They ended up in my tool box when no suitable trash receptacle was present. Also in my pockets. They made it all the way to the laundry fairly frequently. 12string Posted May 10, 2022 Share #28 Posted May 10, 2022 I tried a few puffs when I was a kid. I realized quickly that it tasted awful, felt awful, and it would take a whole lot more than this to make me cool. I wasn't worried about cancer, my dad would have killed me if he found out. Never again.

I quit cigars about 4 years ago on the off chance 2 cigars a week could give me cancer.

I was up to about 6 swisher sweets a day and quit about a month ago. I figured it would be better to vape again than to keep getting all the extra chemicals. I even took up making my own vape juice with 0 nicotine. I get to pick my flavors and also know exactly what goes into the magical juice instead of relying on what the big companies pretend to tell you what's in it. I can actually breath better now, and found that I am having less allergies issues.
az_cyclist Posted May 11, 2022 Share #31 Posted May 11, 2022 Most of the time I used the ashtrays in the vehicle. I assume some times I threw the butt out of the car, but, Indiana was not as dry as the Southwest. FTR, I quit cigarettes Jan 1, 1978, and a pipe in October, 1989.
