Popular Post Rattlecan Posted Saturday at 06:00 PM Popular Post Share #1 Posted Saturday at 06:00 PM We almost always get robins nesting in our yard, but the varmints always destroyed the nests before the eggs hatched. this time it appears they picked a safe spot balanced on the handle of a shovel. as far as I can tell, there are four babies all hatched within the last three days. Here’s hoping they survive to fly away. 6

Amazing... hopefully not much bird poo, on wreath later.

Kirby Posted Saturday at 10:58 PM Share #8 Posted Saturday at 10:58 PM I had robins nest above the patio light the first year I lived here, but they never came back. Very exciting!

Very exciting! Maybe it was too much light/warmth if light was flipped on. Or they found a cosier corner.
shootingstar Posted Sunday at 12:22 AM Share #10 Posted Sunday at 12:22 AM Rattlecan, I got this shot in Banff, early Dec. one year. I was so shocked to even get it. It's from one of my past Christmas blog posts.

Popular Post MickinMD Posted Sunday at 03:12 AM Popular Post Share #13 Posted Sunday at 03:12 AM Before my 2020 house fire, I had one pair of robins who built a nest every year around my back porch motion-detecting light and another pair that built a nest around my front porch light. A third pair had a nest in a tall Canadian maple tree in my back yard. When their eggs had hatched they'd dive bomb the mailman and anyone else who approached but didn't bother me. Now I've had the tree cut down, there aren't the nooks and crannies near the porch lights, and I think the robins are nesting in my neighbor's yard - which is pretty cluttered and has two very-tall fir trees. But I see them. They spend a lot of time digging for worms in my yard or eating the bread heels I through out in the yard for them.
