Airehead Posted May 22, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2022 I am seeing more than I can ever remember. Also chipmunks. They run around the road trying to get hit.
Square Wheels Posted May 22, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2022 There are always lots of little critters in the spring, chipmunks, bunnies, geese... Most get eaten. 1

From the time the housing development built in 1948 into which my parents bought into then, there wasn't a single squirrel around until the around 1980 when Baltimore City created a landfill a mile or so away from it, where a large woods separated the landfill from our community. The landfill was closed around 2000 and the squirrels have slowly been migrating back to the woods. I wonder if rats around the landfill had anything to do with it? The rats didn't migrate into the community - supposedly they won't migrate more than 250 yards from a landfill. When I was on our county's landfill laws commission, that's the word we got from experts and what we put in the laws about how close the landfillls could come to residences or businesses.
Longjohn ★ Posted May 22, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 22, 2022 We had some black squirrels that alway hung out at a sharp bend in our road. My wife was always afraid she was going to hit them, then she did. Never saw them after that. The rest of them must have taken the hint.

team scooter Posted May 22, 2022 Share #9 Posted May 22, 2022 This morning I needed to dodge lots of critters on the motorbike. Squirrels, Ground squirrels, Turkeys, Sandhills, even a Fox ran across my path.

They run across the trail in front of bikes like they're asking to be runt over. 😄
