Your place seems perfect fit for a generator of some sort. Do any of the streams flow fast enough to power a small hydro generator?

Bikeguy Posted May 23, 2022 Share #24 Posted May 23, 2022 2 hours ago, Allen said: Power is back Hmm... 2 hours seems too fast to swap out a transformer. I'd guess the squirrel caused an arch flash. That caused the fuse for the transformer to blow. Both events probably happened rather quickly. A fuse blowing sounds like shotgun going off. Arch flashes can be noisy too. You don't want to be very close to transforms, etc... when this happens. You could end up like the squirrel.
MickinMD ★ Posted May 23, 2022 Share #25 Posted May 23, 2022 Hope you get power soon. Years ago, one blew a block of so from me and we could hear it nice and loud inside our houses. A vehicle ran into the pole and it took a while to get the driver out, so we were out of power for half a day.

Just as well, squirrel needs to rest a bit after you take it off the heat. 2

Not sure how it happened, but a transformer very close to us blew at night bright light, boom, then heard the echo, which sounded akin to a high-caliber rifle, w/ the diminishing sound. Crazy.
