MickinMD ★ Posted May 26, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2022 I closed out my E*Trade account today - I'm switching to Schwab due to better research and ability to buy fractional shares from $5 to $150 with no fees. I had switched from E*Trade to DRIP plans and for years, but I had a tiny fraction of a share remaining at E*Trade due to a reinvested dividend that came in after I had sold my last stock. That stock slightly grew with very tiny additional reinvested dividends over the years and I sold it for $2.10 today. I was asked by the computer close-out program if I wanted E*Trade to donate the $2.10 to charity or send it to me as a check. I'm getting a $2.10 check! It will probably cost me more in gas to drive the check to the credit union but I'm not giving E*Trade a free write-off!
