Was watching the sunset ever a feature of your day?

The year I graduated from high school watching the sunset was a nightly event. There was an overlook outside of town that had an excellent view

A couple dozen kids would assemble every night and witness the suns sinking, there was usually beer and smoke, plan’s would be made and another night would start

It really was magical, the days labor sank with sun, and the night beckoned, unknown adventures awaiting.

Anticipation was usually greater than reality, but every night was a new adventure, and sometimes the reality was better than the dream

The kids and I went out to dinner a couple weeks ago, and then we walked around a nearby state park. On our way out, we saw dozens of cars and apparently HS students milling about in a parking lot on a hill, clearly preparing to watch the sunset. It made me happy to see that.

But for me, watching the sunset has always been an occasional, opportunistic thing.
