Popular Post Wilbur ★ Posted July 20, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 20, 2022 There is a one-man customs facility in a small western town I have been stopping at for 35 years. I walked into the building today with the passengers in trail and while standing in the USCS office I noticed a squadron patch I left there 30 years ago. The customs guy, who is in his 70’s saw me looking at it and told me a friend of his gave it to him. I had to challenge him so I said, “Do you know who gave it to you?” To which he replied, “You did you crusty old sonofabitch”. Everyone cracked up and we spent 90 minutes there shooting the breeze. A lot of nice memories. I first landed there with a flight of then new CF18’s on a training flight. 5 9

Rattlecan ★ Posted July 21, 2022 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2022 I got to visit a lot of the land border crossings between the US and Canada over the years. For the last 15 years or more of my career in transportation, the streamlining of the paperwork, ie, advance notification and pre clearance meant that I seldom had to even get out of the truck. However, for the last few years, one of my most frequently visited crossings was International Falls Mn. They did not have a manned booth for trucks, so I always had to go inside. They always went out and did a quick sweep of the cab, and I crossed there so often, I became known as the guy with a bike in the cab. 1

When I lived in Ft Frances, Intl Falls was our late night drinking spot. We were all on a first name basis with Customs on both sides and would just slowly coast through the crossing

Mittens might still be there trying to thaw his rear hub.

We had to use the train bridge that runs along side.

After your first trip through for the year the customs guys would just wave you through.😁
