Ch ch ch changes….

I didn’t really share too much here about who I worked for but it’s a direct lender and with the rise in interest rates we are tanking hard.  I had been pushing the button terminating access on hundreds of people who were being laid off a day for weeks.  Well Friday I was advised that I’ll be gone too as my position is being eliminated. Friday the 5th is my last day and will get 12 weeks severance with my benefits being paid for the same 12 weeks. 

My boss said that two Executives really went to bat for me but ultimately lost the battle.  What they were able to do is max my severance out as my position doesn’t warrant 12 weeks, it should have been a month to 6 weeks.  

So on to the next adventure. I already reached out to some industry friends and have a call lined up for Monday. We’ll see how it goes.   I had said before that I hoped to ride this job out to retirement but I also knew the volatility of the industry would likely result in my leaving at some point.  We’ll now is the time.

damn that sucks, never give up on finding something better.. If all else fails, you can always become a stripper.. as long as you don't have anything against one dollar bills.

Sorry @ChrisL. How long had you been with them? As I understand it, your talents aren’t isolated to the financial field, so hopefully other areas will be hiring.

A little over 4 years.  Yeah my skills are transferable but positions like mine are hard to come by.  I’ll likely have to move back to the service side where I’ll have to apply my skills as part of firm who provides security services.  

It was nice being on the other side of the table for a while.

You won't be out of work long.  People would have to be idiots to say "No, you can't work here." to a Terminator.

 

 

Oh, and I would not suggest that you don't program a backdoor password not to your current employer's security system that you would never use to not get back into the system, nor would I suggest that you not change the access password on not your last day of everybody who's left  who will have access to the system after you leave.
