Bikeguy Posted August 7, 2022 Share #5 Posted August 7, 2022 They just changed our US representative district maps in early 2022. I was in district 16 but now I'm in 14. Gerrymandering is alive and well in IL. X marks my spot on the map.

MickinMD ★ Posted August 7, 2022 Share #7 Posted August 7, 2022 My District, Maryland's 3rd Congressional District, used to basically be my county until it was gerrymandered to hell, so ridiculous it and other badly gerrymandered districts cause a revolt that put redistricting after the census OUT of the politicians hands. Here's my old gerrymandered district, designed so the heavy population center. Here are Maryland's districts now, constructed by an organization made up of private citizens: 1

ChrisL Posted August 7, 2022 Share #14 Posted August 7, 2022 Yeah CA’s 48th District. It has a more affluent demographic hugging the coast of OC and has been historically a red district.
Kzoo Posted August 7, 2022 Share #15 Posted August 7, 2022 Several years ago I lived in a district where my road was the northern boundary of one and the southern of another. That’s not odd but what was odd was my next door neighbors were in the district to the south and I was in the district to the north.
groupw Posted August 7, 2022 Share #16 Posted August 7, 2022 We are currently in the 1st district. A bit gerrymandered but not near as bad as some. There are several new redraws proposed. Still new enough here I’m not sure what to make of them.

Digital_photog ★ Posted August 7, 2022 Share #21 Posted August 7, 2022 Accident was about 15 miles from our house. You will never agree 100% with anyone but she was a decent person who did a good job for our district. 1
Scrapr ★ Posted August 7, 2022 Share #22 Posted August 7, 2022 no idea on my district. I just rely on the names on the ballot. Then look them up & choose the least worst. The mail in voting really helps with that. We usually sit down over several days & look at candidates. The only kicker is the County Elections boss is basically incompetant. It took a month or more for the primary ballots to be counted. A large amount of ballots went out with blurry bar codes. So it was a hand count. And the Elections woman did not ask for any extra help in counting. The State offered. Last week there was another "mix up" in some mailers from her. She is up for re election this year

Razors Edge ★ Posted August 8, 2022 Share #28 Posted August 8, 2022 @Old No. 7 covered VA for me. I'm just next door to him in 11. Districts should be drawn by unaffiliated and non- or apolitical orgs. It's truly ruining America - death by a thousand cuts - and practiced across the US by all stripes of politicians.

12string Posted August 8, 2022 Share #31 Posted August 8, 2022 You call that gerrymandered? I'm in district 1. Until I go in the kitchen, then it's district 2. If I go upstairs and stand directly over the kitchen, it's district 6.
Kzoo Posted August 8, 2022 Share #32 Posted August 8, 2022 Gerrymandering is when someone from the other political party creates the districts. Redistricting is when someone form your political party creates the districts.
