Popular Post Zealot Posted August 8, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 8, 2022 Almost, since I’d ridden. But after being off the bike for almost 2 years and having dealt with a relapse for the past 7 months, Mrs Z and I threw our legs over our respective saddles and rode about 12 miles yesterday on the WMRT. Wow, did it ever feel good!!! Was a little nervous at first, but as the old adage alludes, ‘it’s like riding a bike!’ 😊 It felt good to stretch my legs. I did three 1/2 to 3/4 mile sprints. Very anaerobic! And loved every minute of it; including the lactic acid build up. It’s a start. We passed a couple ladies on touring bikes, pretty laden and dirty. It’s been humid stormy weather the past week. Assuming they were riding the combination GAP/C&O, I asked, “start in Pittsburg?” Response, “actually, we started in Eugene, Oregon.” Woot!!! Go Gurls!!! Said they’d had lots of rough weather. They were ending their ride in Frederick, MD. Anyway, good to be on two wheels. Hope to keep it up. 1
Razors Edge ★ Posted August 8, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2022 Great! We're getting into prime cycling season, so you'll have some good opportunities to get out there over the next several months.

Just had a discussion with my wife about planning a small bike packing trip. Thanks for the response. Its been a ride. Peace, Z.
Zealot Posted August 19, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted August 19, 2022 Two weeks in. I’m down 10 pounds and doing mostly pretty well. I think we’ll attempt our first 20+ miler this weekend. Legs are hurting a bit this morning. But it’s a good hurt. I discovered I have a lingering issue from the relapse. Clicking into my pedals is problematic. Im lacking some finer muscle control in my feet/ankles. Hopefully it’ll improve. Anyway, last nights ride was beautiful! The sun and shade of the WMRT was exquisite for a ride. And we saw at least 10 deer: 1 buck, 3 fauns and the rest does. 2 of them ran along beside me for a short distance. And we saw 9 turkeys, none of whom were particularly concerned about our presence. They moved off the trail, but just a couple feet. Was really pretty cool. 😊

Maybe not ideal or what you'd prefer, but if it helps.

Thought about that. Will if I have to. But I do use the clips to pedal through the rotation. So, hoping to get the control back.
