Old music was written before I was born, new music after I was born

Yeah. When I was a teen, I listened to "classic" rock - so 60s and 70s "old" music.  That's still the "classic" music, but then the 80s-90s are "modern" or current rock (plus all sorts of pop).  Anything from 2000 on is "new" still :D

Same with things like high school cheerleaders cheers.

One Fall day, I sent my cross country kids off on a long run and saw a woman, Kathy, with whom I went to high school and she and husband Joe were friends of mine after high school.  I taught her daughter who was on the varsity soccer team and Kathy came to watch the game.  So I went into the stadium with her and we sat down and caught up on things while watching the game.

Suddenly, the cheerleaders lined up on the track that ran around the field and began a cheer that included multiple chants of, "Watch me shake my butt!"

I was embarrassed and lucky I was sitting with a parent who was also a long-time friend.  We both shared amazement that this was what our culture is disintegrating to.
