Popular Post Wilbur ★ Posted August 19, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 19, 2022 It was gruelling. My day started at 04:00 EDST. After getting ready, driving to the airport we had a nice short 3 hour flight with clear skies and a nice smooth ride, unlike y'all. Being time travellers, we ended up at the destination just 55 minutes after we took-off. Stop me if I am being too verbose. We got in the rental car and drove to the hotel where we checked in, had breakfast and took a 2 hour nap. After the nap, we drove about 90 minutes to a theme park nature created the backdrop for. It was semi enjoyable. We took a tram across a gorge then zip-lined back where we got on the tram again to walk across the suspension bridge. After that, we got back in the car and drove a cute little ridge road where we jumper onto a dirt road and drove for a couple of hours to a tiny mining town. (Are you writing this down Clifford the big red jerk face)? Walked into the diviest dive bar in a town with a population of 400, about 200 of which were cattle and 100 were deers. I had the best Green Chilies hamburger and fresh cut fries I have had in a very long time. This fit very nicely into the vegan diet I am not doing. Afterwards, we descended from 10,000 foot elevation to the base of the mountains where I had a nice decaf Americano, enjoyed the late summer evening breeze and back to the hotel to be in bed by 10pm MDST. It was a great day of fresh air and sunshine. All while the Jerry Lewis faced mofo was kissin ass and pumpin his thin skinned guns. Photos to follow. 10

When I was there... the tram and the zip-line didn't exist. I'm not sure I could go on the zip-line. Walking out on the bridge was enough fun for me. My fear of heights falling got to be too overwhelming. No way was I going to walk all the way across that bridge. Then again... in Sedona, AZ we went on an early morning hot air balloon ride. I was sure I'd be scared shitless... but I was fine with being in an oversized wicker backset suspended by some hot air a few thousand feet above the ground (our pilot when WAY higher than the other balloons). I wasn't even nervous... go figure. 2

Nope not going to do that. I told her.... I'll watch and take your picture. She would not go without me. I won't do a parachute jump either. No way am I going to jump out of a perfectly good plane. 2

After 4000 ft of climbing and road washouts, washboarding and massive potholes I wished I had my MTB. Then after dinner and driving back, I wish I had my road bike for the nice long decent on pavement. With a full belly though, I was grateful for the car. 2

My dad worked for the D&RGW railroad, freight conductor, from Pueblo to all points along the Rockies. We spent a lot of weekend and vacation time fishing the Arkansas river nearby. Sometimes he’d unlock a gate so we could fish on railway easement in that canyon. 3
