Airehead ★ Posted September 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2022 A person leaving the trial got rear ended yesterday. She was driving a Toyota Tundra. Two crates failed with buckling and doors bending off. One did not. She had three different types. One was a Zinger. That was the best one. so, for those of you that like internet research. Which type of crates should I be looking at to buy in place of our Ruff Tuff and Vari Kennels. Her accident freaked me out. Two dogs got loose in the vehicle. Huge fear. A scared dog will run into traffic. Thankfully all dogs are safe and ok. Our dogs travel thousands of miles a year. I want the safest crates but still need good air flow.

KrAzY Posted September 18, 2022 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2022 When I worked SAR and constantly transported my dog, I had one of these. They are really a tough crate and takes a good beating. https://www.impactdogcrates.com/products/collapsible-dog-crate?variant=30743479844909¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=CjwKCAjwg5uZBhATEiwAhhRLHtuUk23KC1LnlK3gfAh_twJwCO4R_5BA9b_KTd6CrWNYTgfqgPEcvRoCSqcQAvD_BwE

Kirby ★ Posted September 18, 2022 Share #5 Posted September 18, 2022 NY Times article on crates. It mentions some for travel, but isn't focused solely on that. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-dog-crate/

Glad to hear this. It is on my list. I don’t need collapsing for the Aero Transport because they never come out. They make the other type too. I like the collapsing one because it was easy to breakdown and keep a few of them in a confined location like a trailer for emergency response. if you are just using for transport, then you don't need all that fanciness.. I also love that they are all stackable and if you have room, you can build a tower with a lot of them.

I can find stuff on the internet, at least most of the time. It looks like it is a good idea to use some good tie down straps too.
KrAzY Posted September 18, 2022 Share #13 Posted September 18, 2022 I'm on hold with jsharr's wife to see what she keeps him in at night. That has to be a good one if it keeps him from roaming the streets at night.
