How East Coasters Are Portrayed In CA

I’m trying to find a CA ballot initiative commercial that basically says if you vote for Prop 27 the fat cats in MA & NY will profit and CA will suffer.

The add then flips to stereotyped obnoxious “east coasters” calling Californians suckers for voting for Prop 27.  But the portrayal of the east coasters is freaking hilarious.   Like how you guys portray us as dumb stoned & shallow we portrayed you as greasy & obnoxious.  Boom spot on every freaking one of you! 😂

if someone can find the commercial & post it please help me out.

Not sure if we're consistently extreme in that type of advertising.

However I do sense with long time locals who have lived most of their decades here in praririe province/city, they have the wrong impression of people in Southern Ontario, especially Toronto. Oil and gas industry folks in our province, tend to think they are the centre of the business universe in Canada.  They are not Canada's financial centre/brains...it's  Greater Toronto and there it's  waaaaay more diverse economic stronger base. And more intellectual capital for idea cross-fertiilzation, innovation, etc.

When I was finishing grad school research at the U. of Toronto and joined a fraternity, there was a former frat brother there from the Toronto area who attended every party - he always arrived stoned.

One night he proposed trading Canada for California.  Another Canadian frat brother replied, "That would work out great for you, but what about us normal people?"

True story.  I think that conversation has always influenced my thinking about California.

I think what many don’t realize is LA doesn’t represent the state as a whole yet is what people’s mental image is.  Much of the interior is farmland (think Kansas or Iowa) and much of the northern 3rd is forested & remote like Oregon & Washington.

Its really a diverse state from the land, climate & people.

But the people that view Californians as a stereotype won’t consider any opposite position as it goes against their desired beliefs. I am weary of dealing with those who form their ideas and opinions on things that they know nothing about and had won’t move a dust mite to educate themselves differently.
