Parr8hed Posted September 26, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2022 Is that a fairly normal sized one? It appears a little small from some of the pics I see but I have no perspective.

He was super wound up and was thrashing his rack against the trees and shrubs. That is the closest I've been to one in the rut.

Gump Posted September 26, 2022 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2022 We have a young bull wondering out towards Lake Ontario. Not uncommon to see moose east of here but that is the first one in a while that far west. Usually find them chasing heifers in the cow pastures this time of year.

Isn't it, like, a Forum Law that you have be at least 75' away? You know, like a restraining order, or something? That picture looks a lot closer than 75'...

That was the thing that concerned me the most during all of our hikes in places with animals in the wild. WoBG wanting to go and take a picture up close. More than a few times I had to stop her. I had to explain... the bear, or caribou, or _____ (fill in the blank) are not pets. We don't need to be the people who cause the headline.... "IL woman mauled by bear, near Whistler."

It's my understanding that 75' is the specified distance so you can get a good running start before you get trampled. 1
