How many cats have you owned?

Just count cats that you've had primarily for yourself to be ignored by(so not cats you bought for a kid or spouse).

I never bought a cat.  My wife had two when we got married.  Tigger and Kanga.  Tigger was bigger and brave, Kanga was the runt of the litter.  They did not like kids when we had kids.  Kanga hid until the kids went to bed and then came out.   One day Wade saw Kanga and was surprised to learn we had two cats.

We had a few black cats when I was a kid. Charkey and Charcoal. We would run through doorways and they would jump up on our shoulders. I remember just wearing t shirts but I don’t remember cat claws in my skin.  I guess they just laid on our shoulders. Surprising.

This cat was a beautiful gray color with green eyes.  On hot nights I would leave the door open and he would leap up onto the desk & scare the crap outta me!

Cats are filthy animals, so I have owned none.

Actually, I am allergic to them, which is the real reason I have had none.  I do cat-sit often for friends with cats, mostly because they know I love animals (even filthy ones like cats), and will play with them and love them up whilst I am there.  As long as there is a cat-free place to sleep, I do ok with lots of allergy gunk.

The old Oliver tractors with 2 stroke Detroits were hard on my hearing.

I drove lots of trucks with 6 71 and 8v71 Detroits and they were all an assault on the ears . The one I owned was a 8v92T and it was not too bad.

Detroit abandoned the 2 stroke in the late 80s and their 4 stroke was no worse than any of the others.

The Oliver tractor I used had a 4-53  It screamed.

Too many to count....   :frantics:   The most at one time... about 14.   They all stayed outside.  I'm allergic to cats.

For years at our old home WoBG would feed the feral cats.

It was a free buffet that was open from 6AM until dusk.   In the winter they got heated beds and heated water bowls.   And I got to build a shelter, over the heated beds when it got real cold and snowy.

This was Sam at 126 pounds wondering what the hell that kitten was doing.    (He did not eat the cat.)

I drove a Screaming Demon 318 Detroit for three years, then I moved up to a 440 Silver 92 or some such. I might not be remembering that right. The 440 was much quieter. The 318 could pass everybody on the downhills, the Silver 92 could pass everybody on the uphills.

We grew up in the country. We had a lot of cats. A few stand out. The main one though…
Trinity - We discovered him hiding in some concrete blocks by the chicken house. We caught him and put him on the porch while we had Sunday dinner. Mom had put out some bread in milk since he was so little. Dad called us over to the screen door as he was eating. He must have been raised by raccoons because he would pick up the bread and wash it in the milk with his paws! He quickly broke that habit as he integrated with the other cats. However, he taught them how to sit on their haunches to look over the farmyard grass. Our friends said it was so weird to pull into the driveway and see cat heads pop up above the grass!

He was my buddy. When I got home from school he would be waiting on the fence post for me to extend my arm. He would than walk my arm and curl up on my shoulders and neck.

When I moved out, so did he. Mom said he would visit once in a while, but she said he kind of looked around for me and would leave when I wasn’t there.

More than a few. Wo2 had Grace when we met, she got rehomed when we went to SA.

Whilst in SA we got Bear. Well, a cat at Wo2's work had a litter, we took them all home & kept Bear. She was hit by a car shortly before we came back.

Various & sundry mostly Calicos, all rescues, Most called "Kitty" or some variation, we had 18 years of single-digit aged children.

There were several part-time cats who lived with us in MS, a few part-time dogs as well.

Momma, who showed up pregnant & unwed at our back door in MS. We got all the kittens homed & Momma fixed. Lived a long life & died of an apparent heart attack on Wo2's lap.

Boo Boo showed up around the same time as Momma, she developed a bad heart murmur & we had her put to sleep about 3 years ago.

Patches, was rescued from an evil ex son-in-law in a daring Seal Team 6 style infiltration/extraction. We had her a good while, she developed some kind of a gut cancer & after a few fluid drainings & the total loss of appetite, we had her sent to the bridge about 18 months ago. It was hard, we vowed to be catless for a while. Yeah, right.

We got Sid about a year ago. He likes to tell us he's a cat-from-the-hood. But the hood is a heated cat condo on the back porch of the other g-parent's $750k house.
