bikeman564™ Posted September 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2022 The LOOK Keo pedals came w/ 8 Nm carbon blades installed, and 12 Nm blades in the box. After riding them for a while the release seemed a bit too easy. So I installed the 12 Nm blades and what a noticeable difference. Feels much more secure and with the new black cleats (zero float), I feel safely locked in. LOOK makes 16 Nm blades but I'll ride with these for a bit first. I liked the old Delta Look pedals because they had a tension screw to adjust, but these work good too. Probably better because springs can loose their springyness over time.
Longjohn ★ Posted September 28, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 28, 2022 Last year after all my physical problems and stress of losing my wife I bought the new bike and new pedals. I tried the pedals out in my living room and they took some effort to release but I thought they would be ok and maybe would loosen up over time. I went on my first ride and it wore me out within the first five miles. I continued on to go around the block (about eight miles, country blocks are big). I was going up a grade and was too wore out to continue. Tried to unclip and I didn’t have the strength to do it. I thought about making a u-turn but it was a brand new bike and it was a gravel touring bike with a long wheelbase. I didn’t know if I could make a u-turn on that narrow road. I didn’t want to fall over because of the anti-coagulant I was on. Deep ditches on both sides of the chip seal road, no soft places to fall over. I finally managed to get my right foot unclipped and was able to stop and rest. After I rested a bit I was able to unclip the other foot and loosened up the tension on both pedals to finish the ride. I was in a tough situation for awhile. 1

JerrySTL ★ Posted September 28, 2022 Share #4 Posted September 28, 2022 I need a lot of float or I feel it in my knees. I really liked the Speedplay X pedals with lots of float and can clip in on both sides. Recently these pedals wore out and I went to Crank Bros Eggbeater pedals for my road bike. I already had Crank Bros Candy pedals on the tandem and my gravel bike. Now I can wear the same shoes on all three bikes. They have about 15° of float and have 4-sided clip-in.
