Goes unpunished. I received a call last night after dinner. It was Jerry, the guy I delivered a load of split oak firewood to on Saturday. Jerry wanted to know if we want some wood from his yard. I’ve got a tree down next to the house and was wondering if you guys would come and take it. Umm, no. That’s not how it works. You bring the wood to us. We will cut and split it and then deliver to someone in need. We don’t harvest wood as a service to people with downed trees. Oh, ok. Do you guys have a tarp? A tarp? What for. To put over the firewood you delivered. No, we don’t provide tarps. One thing I didn’t hear in the whole conversation was a word of thanks for the wood I dropped off.

But no good deed goes unnoticed. It’s the heart of the doer, not the heart of the recipient that makes a deed good. Take solace in that. 

10 lepers were healed. 1 expressed thankfulness. But the deed was still good.

The guy simply wanted you to get rid of a downed tree for him, otherwise that's where he'd have got his wood.  Sounds like a real jerk.

I'm thinking check it out. If it's a decent firewood species and there is some decent stuff, take it. Leave the rest of the crap, but if there is decent stuff....
