MickinMD ★ Posted September 30, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2022 I picked a lot of tomatoes today - the first picking in a few days - and there are a few 3" to 4" beefsteaks on the bottom but I getting mostly the very prolific Yellow Pear Cherry Tomatoes and 1"-2" San Marzano Plum Tomatoes. A lot of the Brandywine Pink and Chrokee Purple tomatoes are ripening small, but they're still SO delicious and are part of most of my sandwiches and dinner side dishes and evening snacking and I'm not tired of them yet. I'm so glad I decided to do a veggie garden this year - fresher than roadside stands and the tasty varieties, not the ones commercially grown because seldom have blemishes! Our first expected Fall frost is November 15th and I expect tomatoes to keep ripening through the end of October when they'll still taste great but the skins will get thicker. The incredible orange Sun Gold Cherry Tomatoes are still blossoming and producing in small numbers - I'll be doing 2 or 3 of them next year instead of 1 plant.
