Sunday evening, agility practice rounds. Monday is agility. Tuesday is obedience, rally, and barn hunt events. Wednesday and Thursday more agility plus things like CGC, TRICK dog, Friday awards and celebration and the Airedale Terrier Club of America annual board meeting. ( all the other terrier groups use Friday for the same things). Saturday is a conformation show and hunt tests for some terriers and ground events for the smaller terriers. Sunday is the main event the Montgomery all terrier conformation show. 1

Longjohn ★ Posted October 1, 2022 Share #10 Posted October 1, 2022 I would guess the weather inside the dome would be quite comfortable. Still most of the attendees will be wearing fur coats so you might want to bring one. 1
MickinMD ★ Posted October 1, 2022 Share #11 Posted October 1, 2022 Have fun! Does the Hershey's Chocolate factory still do free tours and free candy? I'm not getting much wind or rain an hour and half drive's south of Palmyra and Hershey, hopefully you won't get much more than a good breeze, but surely some rain through Sunday at least, depending on how fast Ian's remains move. Being a runner and not a thrower, I spent two days in Hershey in the late 80's doing a high school coaches training course in Track and Field Throwing Events, run by the U.S. Olympic Development Committee's Tony Naclerio. I was one of the volunteer participants when the Glide Shot Put training was demonstrated and not one for the Discus. To this day, I can teach anyone the 10 steps to the Glide Shot Put but not so well about how to rotate and throw the Discus. I've used that in teaching discussions and planning as an example of how important kinesthetic (hands-on) learning can be, even for someone who tends to learn best from reading and visualizing.

Kirby ★ Posted October 1, 2022 Share #14 Posted October 1, 2022 What is a "conformation" event? From what I've heard, terriers don't like to conform. Sounds like agility events are a lot like my skating events. Part of the fun is the event itself and part of the fun is seeing friends who have come from all over.

The funny thing is that when you get a couple thousand terriers together it is actually very quiet. I say the conformation events are the beauty page t but AKC says The official term for dog shows is conformation — as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity. While a dog show may look like a beauty pageant, it’s not. Dogs are not being compared to each other; they’re being measured by how closely they conform to the standard of their particular breed.
Kirby ★ Posted October 1, 2022 Share #16 Posted October 1, 2022 I never knew what I thought of as the non-agility dog show had a different name.

Honestly, I have never been. Our friends from Australia want to go and we said we would watch their dogs while they do. I will let you know. When we were in Hershey for a Dave Mathews concert about twenty years ago they didn’t let you tour the actual factory. They had a reenactment factory set up where they showed you how it was made and it exited in the store. They might still do that but they moved production to Mexico.
