Endurance sports...do certain life events help some women become strong(er)

She broke the world's record @64 yrs., this yr. for women, running marathon under 3 hrs. It's not clear to me if it's for all women's ages or within a certain age group.

At 64, marathon age group world record-holder Yugeta Mariko still has a dream (olympics.com)  She's had 4 children, which she had to put her running dreams on hold. She was a PE teacher which at least kept her in touch with fitness.

Honest, after observing up front what 3 sisters went through body-wise when they each had several children...

As someone who has never had children, I've always admired the stamina of some women athletes in certain endurance solo sports and who have had children. One wonders if bearing a child, raising them, etc. helps for some, acquire an even stronger mental focus, resilience.

Sorry, no offence to men.. but a women's body must recover from pregnancy, giving birth, etc.

I'm certain there are women here who would tell, it...all depends as well as other things going in life.

Genetics, diet and hard work.  But then, there is this in the WaPo, so it must be true.

A 2017 study published in Nature Neuroscience found there is a decrease in gray matter in the area of moms' brains that is responsible for social cognition. This shrinkage was still present two years after childbirth, suggesting that having a baby may lead to permanent structural changes in the brain.Oct 9, 2021

Hmmm. I bet alot of educated women, in certain professions who are also mothers, would protest. :flirtyeyess:
