Longjohn ★ Posted October 2, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 2, 2022 My cousin’s daughter was wearing a dress so short she held he hands in her lap for the pictures. Then I saw the other girls were just as bad. I heard Peewee Herman suits were popular with the guys, I guess I heard right.
shootingstar Posted October 2, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 2, 2022 Well, LJ...this really is not different than the 1960's-1970's. However PeeWee Herman suits is new to me re guys. I admit the trend where I am, when I saw the high school grads this year... it's still long flowing dresses sweeping the floor/ground but with plunging necklines, thin straps. I have worn dress skirts but 1-2" lower as recently as within last 5 yrs. So criticize..me! (which is lost among a bunch of cyclists here )

The hardest part for older teen girls is how to tell them that experimenting with their fashion is fine without banking their self-esteem/primary focus on just fashion/body. It's pretty hard with all the media messages, fashion industry, need to feel part of happy group, and reaction from boys/men. 2
groupw Posted October 2, 2022 Share #6 Posted October 2, 2022 Older daughter wore very short skirts and dresses 20 years ago. It’s not new. I’m not big into the “would you let your daughter” conversation. If body parts are exposed or falling out, we might talk a bit. The thing that’s being lost on all this is we aren’t having the conversation with the guys “it’s one thing to notice. It’s quite another to ogle, embarrass pressure or touch inappropriately” It goes both ways. 1

I find it disappointing in the workplace I see some professional women showing a bit of decolletage. It's changed over past 20 years in a slow, creeping way. I will never quite understand this. But then, someone could criticize on my skirt length, which on a short woman like self, in my opinion, isn't really noticeable anyway.

Celia is in the band and they did a good halftime show, the twin dudes were dancing to the music. It was awesome. 1

shootingstar Posted October 2, 2022 Share #14 Posted October 2, 2022 I just realized all those ladies are leaning a bit forward in the group photo. Either their high heels make them tower over the guys or....whatever. That group photo will be cherished by a number of those women (because they aren't body-wise, teens anymore. They are not.) several decades from now...as @peak of their best figures and young "beauty" in those dresses. Contrary to a woman like myself, I never had a ripe-in- beauty photo at that tender, awkward time in life. Probably my best photos..were 2-3 decades later. Many young women at that age fly under the radar....and some turn out later...great/just fine, in all facets of their lives. Something I've noticed over the yrs. The girls who were geeky, bright and not outstanding teen beauties....those who I know, are still happily married, good careers, grown children, etc. So every parent should tell every girl...you would be super fine... no matter what she looks like then.

This restaurant opens at 4:30 PM and we got there at 5:30. Usually at that time they have LOTS of open tables. We drove in and OMG the parking lot was full. There was a wedding in the banquet hall part of the restaurant, and many homecoming dates who were having dinner before the dance. We got one of the few open tables. There were more than a few very short dresses there. Our daughter would never have worn anything that short.
shootingstar Posted October 2, 2022 Share #16 Posted October 2, 2022 Please remember some girls will sneak in a different dress/skirt away from parents. Or put on a revealing top away from home. Ok...I get all this, after I grew up with 4 sisters and 1 brother. And my parents never wanted us to wear very short skirts and revealing tops. Until we left home for good. Just hope the girls didn't get accidentally too drunk or can kick butt/groin someone...literally when things went wrong.
