Popular Post smudge ★ Posted October 2, 2022 Author Popular Post Share #9 Posted October 2, 2022 Things were going pretty well until the 200 couldn't make a really steep hill. It had started chugging a bit, and I wasn't sure it could make it. 1/2 way up it started blowing oil/gas. Then it started rolling backwards. It really doesn't have anything for brakes. Then it dawned on me to kick the off switch and let us on the clutch to make it stop rolling. I looked behind me to apologize to my trailer full of riders, and they were off to my left!! Shit! I kinda wanted to throw up, but everyone was ok. A tractor behind me pulled the trailer to straighten it out a bit, and then he towed me until I could pop the clutch on the 200. 1 2
smudge ★ Posted October 2, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted October 2, 2022 I kinda think it was my fault it calfed. I was letting it coast with the clutch pushed in going down the steep hills. It was unhappy going downhill, so I did that. I knew to wait until it wasn't going too fast to let the clutch back out, but still.....

Kirby ★ Posted October 3, 2022 Share #15 Posted October 3, 2022 Well I know nothing about driving tractors, but it sounds like the tractor was just acting up. But glad you were able to sort things out and end the day with festive pizza! 1

This one and the M haven't moved from the tractor barn in 8 years, since my Nana died. The neighbor, Neil, decided to get them running so they could be in the tractor parade he runs. These tractors are from the early 40's. One of the farmers I worked for during high school had a 41 Farmall. It had no electric start and magneto ignition, so there wasn't even a battery. I learned the proper way to hand crank an engine after nearly getting my arm broken while my boss stood there and laughed at me.

I plowed a lot of grandpa's farm with a W6 and that goofy clutch pedal. When I was little my dad would attach a block of wood to it so I could push it all the way in. 3
