Popular Post jsharr ★ Posted November 10, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted November 10, 2022 Looks like my 25 year marriage will not survive to see 26 years. We are trying to stay civil and maintain normalcy until our youngest graduates high school. I held out some hope for a bit, but realized this past weekend that there is no saving it this time. I am hurting inside. 14

Kirby Posted November 10, 2022 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2022 Very sorry to hear this. I am glad that you are both focusing on your boys and trying to make this transition as easy as possible for them. We joke a lot around here, but you know we truly care, and are here if you want to talk. I can't imagine how difficult this is for everyone after so many years. 3
Popular Post Rattlecan ★ Posted November 10, 2022 Popular Post Share #5 Posted November 10, 2022 I am so sorry to hear that. My first marriage lasted 21 years although it nearly ended half way through but we reconciled to last another 10 years. A punch in the gut is exactly what it felt like. You are a good man and still relatively young. No matter how dark it seems, you will get through it and happiness awaits. 4
MoseySusan Posted November 10, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2022 I wish I had words of comfort or perspective or pithy wisdom. But I just have sad. And I’m amazed by your courage to stay civil. I’d be rounding up the wagons for all-out making war on mr. Just this morning I gave him what-for because he leaves used Puffs lying around the house and said I talk too loudly. Bleh… it’s no fun when 25 years together fades into separate lives. 1 1

Popular Post Randomguy Posted November 10, 2022 Popular Post Share #16 Posted November 10, 2022 Sorry to hear this, jsharrt. That said, realization is the first step to getting past the shitty part. Most people say it is likely get a little ugly before you start to accept and move to bigger and better things, being civil is the far better play, even if she gets uncivil. I think your ex will almost certainly be more decent than mine, so you have that going for you, plus your kids are grown and you won’t have to fight over that. I recommend getting a girlfriend asap, nothing better to divert attention than a new chick that thinks everything you do is great. It doesn’t get you over it, but it gives you good feelz while you process. I have more horrible ideas, I just have to gather them first. 1 1 4

Popular Post groupw Posted November 10, 2022 Popular Post Share #28 Posted November 10, 2022 Very sorry. The most important thing at this point is letting the boys know it’s not their fault. I’ve had a couple different friends go through this as parents and the child. As the kids, they knew something was wrong and they wondered what they had done. They were almost relieved that it was a divorce. As parents, the resentments that made the decision final kept bubbling to the surface making those last months together very difficult. Best wishes for you as you go through this 4
