shootingstar Posted January 1 Share #1 Posted January 1 What has been the most courageous / riskiest thing you've done so far in life? You might have not thought it was courageous/risk at the time, which the question can include such things looking back. There are things we've done which we didn't overthink it much.

Ok, I didn't think of that as a reason, when dearie if he wanted spend my life with him in another part of Canada. I sold my Toronto condo and left a good-paying management job in Toronto, to relocate my stuff to live with him. I had no job offer in Vancouver at that time. Yes, it was for love. My actions, surprised several people I knew.
Kirby ★ Posted January 2 Share #6 Posted January 2 I'd guess the first time I moved across the country from family and my home just to try something different. But I always knew I had their support and a landing spot, so that helped a lot.

I've met personally people who went to another province for school, but returned to Alberta (or Ontario where family and base friends are). But that's fine too...they experienced life in a different area of their country. But then, not everyone can afford to be educated away from home city. Popular Post Zephyr Posted January 2 Popular Post Share #8 Posted January 2 That is a very complex question, as there are many kinds of risk. I have done many things a lot of people would consider risky, however in my mind I mitigated any risks as best as possible prior to jumping in with both feet. 4
Popular Post Wilbur ★ Posted January 2 Popular Post Share #9 Posted January 2 Flying night visual approaches to unlit runways in the Kootenay mountains in BC. Revelstoke and Castlegar. It was very dangerous, very high risk but being it was to save lives, very rewarding. 4 2
ChrisL Posted January 2 Share #10 Posted January 2 Probably enlisting in the Army at 18. I don’t know about courageous but I have had to do things that could have very well gotten me killed. I did them because it was my job and I didn’t want to let the others down who were with me. I guess you can also throw in there times I have gone against the will of my bosses/employers as what they wanted me to do went against my morals. 2

I did that ONCE with WoBG. Since then, I'd never answer if asked. Better... she has never asked again. I'll just say.. it didn't go well for me. 1

Back in 1979 I was working in a office in the SW suburbs of Chicago. I was called into the Area Manager's office. He was THE boss for the office. I got there... I asked "OK... what did I do to get me here?" He assured me, there was no problem. In fact there was a job opening in the Streator office. I asked is this a promotion? He told me, yes. I told him; "I'll take the job. Where the hell is Streator?" Yeah soon I found out the office was about 90 miles SW in rural IL. I didn't know anyone in that area. That was a big change. I met WoBG in the Streator office. We were married about 2 1/2 years later. (yeah an office romance) That changed my life. 5 1

Like when I packed everything I owned into my car and drove to ABQ on December 31, 1991 with a paycheck of money in my pocket and a schedule of MA program classes to start at UNM. I stayed with my uncle for two days while I searched for an apartment and a job. I found the apartment, and then worked as a substitute teacher before I took a half-time EA position at the school where mr. was currently working. We met in March, dated and took a summer school class together, married in August. 3

Dirtyhip Posted January 2 Share #19 Posted January 2 Packing up and moving to a town without new jobs and we knew no one there. It was tougher than we thought, we turned out fine. My second courageous thing was entering the Oregon Enduro Series and winning it for my age class. Those courses were demanding and I had to ride down them as fast as I could. It was an insane year.
