It's a Christmas miracle.

Yes it was.

No need to clean out the gas tank, gas lines, and carburetor from the gas that tuned into varnish after sitting for decades of more.    The tires, hoses, and fan belts were OK too.

Yeah it was a miracle.

WoBG filled our DVR with Christmas movies.   We are watching 'Christmas On Wheels' a Lifetime movie.

The car in the movie is a 1964 Cadillac DeVille convertible.

The car was in storage for a long time.  The daughter now wants the car, but it won't start.  She gets a chrome tailpipe extension.

Flowmaster Exhaust Tips 15363

While in her designer cloths, slides under the car, installs the tailpipe extension..  And then the car starts.

I never knew that was a way to get a car to start.  '

Did you never hear about the girl that could suck start a Harley?  Maybe she has moved up.  :)

The actual science involved is just a matter of getting a good reflecting surface under the car (chrome extension) so that the sunlight warms up the fuel pump and valves in the gas tank.  There would be a lot fewer "fail to starts" if the manufacturers would simply bite the bullet and spend a bit more to put the chrome extensions on at the factory.

I live just a couple of miles away from the Consumer Reports test facility and have had many conversations with the mechanics and authors who work there about some of the little known things that can improve the automotive experience.

In my next thread I will discuss how low rider suspension with hydraulic jump jacks can improve one's gas milage.

Just as a heads up.......I know of at least one of these cars that consumed no gas at all for in excess of 3 months

Once it came out of the shop it still did very well by getting the back end of the car up high enough so that it was coasting downhill all the time.

  So... someone needs to tell the people that the Carolina squat will cause gas mileage to decrease.  Going up hill all the time is a bad idea.

We are on our second Christmas movie.

This one is old, and kind of sad.   'The Christmas Shoes'

I'll be glad when the DVR is back to normal.   Maybe by June.  :frantics:

WoW was watching HGTV when I got home. I’ll take it over Lifetime which has been on the last month.

Back in the days of full service gas stations, our 1960 Chevy would sometimes not start on the first try when it was warm. They would immediately have the hood up trying to figure it out.
My cute and petite young mom would pull a long screwdriver driver from under the seat, excuse herself and jump the starter solenoid to get it to start. Dad had taught her how. I don’t remember it personally. A friend of ours shared the story years later of how the mechanics would shake their head that a woman could do that!
