Okay, so about the drugs.

The last time, like about two months ago, the insurance company wouldn't pay for one of my drugs. The pharmacy staff said it was probably because the drug is not tested on people of my age. Fine. Skip it. So I contacted the doctor through the portal about the situation and asked for guidance. He responded in his usual manner by ignoring the message. Fine. So I didn't get the drug. No problem. Okay so like about two months later, I removed the drug from my list because I figured I didn't need it. Okay, fine. Two days later, BAM! Now I need the drug. So I check the pharmacy site on the drugs in my list and the prescription was still active. Fine, good. I asked for the refill and went on the internet to get a GoodRx coupon. Like the next day, the pharmacy site says there is a problem with the prescription and I need to call the pharmacy. Fine. So I call the pharmacy and wait on hold the requisite 45 minutes until the somebody picks up the phone. She says, "I don't see a problem with it and I'll get that ready for you." I said, "That's fine, I'll be over there after while." So after a while I go over there and the prescription is not ready, yet. The girl says if I give them five minutes they will get it ready for me. I said that's fine, I'll just sit over here. So the girl calls me up a few minutes later and gets my prescriptions. I whip out the GoodRx coupon and ask if they will honor it. She says there is no co-pay on the prescription. I explained that the last time I tried to get the drug, the insurance company denied the service. She said, "We all love insurance companies."

Fine. I'm on drugs. So what?

I have had my Dr prescribe me diabetes medicine only to have it denied by my insurance company.  They wanted me to be on a less expensive drug first, it those options didn’t work then they would approve the more expensive drug.

I guess it could be a deterrent for Dr’s pushing certain unnecessary meds but I ultimately ended up on the more expensive med anyway so it seems my Dr was right the first time…

That seems awfully complicated just to get a little blue pill.

We all have crazy experiences with scripts, in large part thanks to the antiquated healhcare system we have with hundreds of different insurance policies.  America spends 23% of its medical expenditures on paperwork. Most countries spend 3%.

I had one case where my insurance company would NOT pay the $29 for a prescription and I called the insurance company twice and got no reason why.  Finally, on a third call, the girl said, "It's because it's an over the counter med."  Of course, CVS Pharmacy didn't tell me I could pick up a bottom on the shelf for $7.

THESE are the people I appreciate. No games, just honesty.
