Shu Fang ★ Posted January 7 Share #1 Posted January 7 I plan on visiting there this summer. I want to visit the Haymarket Memorial. If someone lives in the area, I would like to buy you a cup of coffee and lunch. Couch
BuffJim Posted January 7 Share #2 Posted January 7 @Bikeguy I think is the closest. But I think he’s a good ways away. Don’t know of any others.
BR46 Posted January 7 Share #3 Posted January 7 I'm 2 1/2 hour drive north but the Haymarket Memorial is 2 miles away from the shop where I do dyno testing. If I have some testing going on around the same time you are in the area we will do lunch. 1

JerrySTL ★ Posted January 7 Share #7 Posted January 7 I live in Illinois but towards the bottom of the state. Now if you ever visit St. Louis, I'm really close.

When I worked I got the opportunity to go downtown Chicago for meetings maybe once a month. For more than 40 years... I lived with the Chicago area traffic. After 5 years of being retired... sorry Couch... but I haven't been back in Chicago. Nor do I have plans to go back. IMHO rural IL is WAY better than Chicago. Then there is this.... an article from November of 2022. The perception of crime on the Magnificent Mile is backed up by data showing increases over the past two years. In the 80s and 90s WoBG and I would visit the city. We'd walk Michigan Ave... I know... the probability of getting mugged are very low.. but I don't want to find out. I have no interest in actually spending any time there. I do have to drive through the city once or twice a month and if there was no my father on the other end, that wouldn't even be happening either. Rural living is much easier (and nicer) in my view.
