Ralphie ★ Posted January 8 Share #1 Posted January 8 Our pre-lit Christmas tree has a lot of burned oot lights. I am replacing the ones on the strings that are not dead yet. The ones that are completely dead I will probably leave and we will just supplement with external strings again next year. It is just too big of a job to try to fix those. I am watching a golf tournament on a gorgeous Hawaii course while doing it. It is a lot like why I watch the TdF, to see the gorgeous scenery. This course is pretty darn stunning! Even better than Pebble Beach! 1

Ralphie ★ Posted January 8 Author Share #4 Posted January 8 Damn! They are measuring the spin on the golf balls. 2400-2700 rpm. Incredible!
Longjohn ★ Posted January 8 Share #5 Posted January 8 Half the lights on my pre-lit tree didn’t work. I had another big string of lights that only half worked. I used my electrician pliers and cut off the dead half. The rest of the lights stayed on. Yay, I fixed it.
shootingstar Posted January 8 Share #6 Posted January 8 Maybe you might find a string of lights on sale at this time.

That's the one thing I'm going to hate... when the lights on our pre-lit trees start to burn out. That will be a pain to fix. At least a sting of lights is easier to find and replace the dead bulbs. Some times it is easier to use most of the dead string of lights as a source of spare bulbs for the other strings of lights. If they are incandescent lights... this has helped me a LOT over the years. I had one for LED bulbs... when we moved (4 years ago) it got lost and/or is in a box in our basement. I still haven't found it.
Further Posted January 9 Share #8 Posted January 9 All ours worked last time I looked, we skipped this year.. I love the pre lit tree, we have had for several years and the lights (LED) have always worked. Years back, when the kids were little, I loved going all out, and cutting a tree. Hauling it home and decorating the hell out of tree and home. The past few years my enthusiasm has faded.

Local store had all Christmas stuff on sale 50% off. I almost bought one of those, one that tested LED strings, but then realized even at 50% off the tester cost as much as four on-sale light strings. I put the tester back and bought the four light strings. (Which I tested by plugging them in before I put them in the cart...)

Done in 1 minute and $5.99.
