Popular Post BR46 Posted January 11 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 11 I was looking for something on YouTube and came across this video of a guy talking his wife for a ride in his race car around the high banks of Daytona. The way she's freaking out in a car with a cage I don't think she would do well on a sidecar. 1 2

maddmaxx ★ Posted January 11 Share #7 Posted January 11 I've made that ride, not the infield part but multiple laps on the tri-oval. It was amazing to me how many people got out of the car after their rides and were shaking and looking like they were going to throw up. I just loved it. I watched the driver's feet and shift points on the out lap. I watched what he did when we hit the bump in turn 4. I was amazed at how much Daytona looked like a 2 lane road curving up and to the left at the end of the back straight. This was before it was re-paved and the back straight was a mass of tar snakes. About 175 did not seem all that fast but for the noise and shaking. It seemed like there was lots of time to take all the details in. Later I thought about it and realized that it was probably a lot different when racing 3 wide with 3 more about 2 feet in fron and another batch behind, all bouncing and shaking, not necessarily in the same direction at the same time. I was sad when it was over.

When you are on the straight coming up to the banking was not as scary coming out of the infield looking at a wall.

Bikeguy Posted January 11 Share #10 Posted January 11 I think when she got strapped into the car, THAT freaked her out. She kept pulling at her clothing around her neck. WoBG told me when she worked, they had a 'reward' and severs people got a ride along at the Joliet NASCAR track. Obviously it was not the 'true' NASCAR experience they only got up to maybe 90. WoBG told the driver... I drove faster then this driving to Joliet. WoBG told once... "Those yellow diamond speed limit warning signs for curves... my car can go thru the curves at twice the recommenced speed." 1
