MickinMD ★ Posted January 12 Share #11 Posted January 12 Back around 1990, I had a high school chemistry student who did a Science Fair project on antibiotics in milk. She had her mother drive her to supermarkets in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The results were that milk sold in New Jersey was particularly high in antibiotics. Maryland had none and the milk from Amish Country Pennsylvania had none. She wrote to the governor of NJ who never wrote back.

He said never again He had a cow that had been treated and he thought he waited long enough before he included her milk with the rest of the milk. The tanker driver takes a sample of every farmer’s milk. When he gets to the dairy they test all the samples before he unloads. His tested positive for an antibiotic and he had to pay for the entire tanker full of milk.

bikeman564™ Posted January 12 Share #17 Posted January 12 I don't see such markings on my milk. But the milk I buy at my LGS is from Guernsey Dairy Farm in Michigan. The bottle says made in MI. Their ice cream is good too. A local joint sells it. 1

It seems that their teats are too small for our milkers. 2

2Far Posted January 12 Share #27 Posted January 12 Parmalat, Fat Free, HT in a box, unrefrigerated. I am not sure it's really even milk. FWIW, Wo2 has a pet peeve about anything not coming from a teat being called milk.

Because if it didn't come from a mammal's teat, it simply isn't milk. She is 100% correct.

There have been ongoing lawsuits about that. Milk does NOT come from almonds, soybeans etc. Milk comes from mammals. Dairy Farmers of America know that.
