MickinMD ★ Posted January 12 Share #3 Posted January 12 Not everyone likes marzipan! In what many, including me, consider the best scene from one of my favorite movies, Amadeus, Mozart's wife Constanze tries to get the Emperor's Official Composer, Salieri, interested in Mozart's music. Note: the music in the scene begins with the best part of Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major, K.299 which I think is the most beautiful piece of music ever written. For the scene, Constanze has to keep eating the sweets presented to her and the actress, Elizabeth Berridge, said she can't stand the marzipan they were made with and wanted to throw up every bite! Every time I see that Amadeus scene I posted, I think of her saying she wanted to throw up with each bite of the marzipan sweets she had to eat, one after another when she played Constanze. Meg Tilly was supposed to play Constanze but tore a ligament in a soccer game and virtually-unknown Berridge got a tremendous break in the Oscar Winner for Best Picture and Best Actor (F. Murray Abraham as Salieri).
