The SC has been outed numerous times. In many ways, we’re all the committee.

Waffleton might appreciate a visit from Auntie DH. Or… you could save the cat toy for the next foster?

I am going to take it to Waffleton.  I seriously doubt we will have another foster cat.

Thank you, Mrs. S.

..and thank you for educating me about that thread.  I will be more thoughtful when speaking on behalf of animals.

It's not surprising that he'd be a little shy after the move, but he'll adjust and it sounds like a perfect home for a friendly kitty.   The one cat that I adopted from a shelter (rather than one that just found me) came right out of her carrier and hid under a giant dresser for almost two days, coming out just for a quick bite.  But she adjusted very quickly once she felt at home.

As he drove off to his new home in a mini Cooper, I felt a slight pain. The pain of missing him is real. I had a meeting tonight. When I got home I felt a little sad. His little water bowl was there. Although, I am in pain from missing him I know this is such a better home for him. Living inside with his human, sleeping with his human and being protected.

How far away will the little guy live?

As a dog owner, I know how important pet-sitting is for a responsible owner's sanity.  Being able to have someone who loves your pet care for it while you are gone is a HUGE boost, so maybe you let the new guy know to give you a call if he needs someone to watch Waffles if he goes away for a vacation. Aunt DH will get some Waffle-time!

Supposedly, this guy trevels with his cats.  He asked how he does in the car.  When he went with HODH, he just layed down.  He meowed a little, but didn't freak out, climb down into the pedals or cause problems.  He just chilled out and stayed next to him.

Of course, we would help if asked.

He is about 50 minutes away.

A wellness visit in a few days? Sunshine comes in multiples…

That sounds like a good plan.

I miss him this morning.  No cute face looking in the wondow this morning.  No lap cuddling with the kitty purring away with his little chirpy cooing.

This is so much better for Waffleton though.  We are just gone too much and are very busy people. I am telling myself I did the right thing.

When HoSmudge was so sick Nov/Dec I would visit him some time and go home for a day or so. People thought I was worried about my cat. Truth is, my cat was (is) a great comfort to me. He's a big softie with a hearty purr. Very good for stressed out nerves.

I read an article that said cats purring is the same vibration that helps to heal broken bones and repair injury.

It wasn't a bullshit article, I saw it in Scientific American.

I once heard someone describe their cat as a "comforting little presence" and I know what they mean.  There's something very peaceful about seeing my cat nap so contentedly and make cute little snoring noises.  But from everything you've said, DH, it definitely sounds like this was the right decision for Waffle.

The last day has been tough.  Deciding to give him up, and the missing little guy has been painful. I know this is the best thing for Waffle. He will be safe and taken care of.  The new owner loves him.  He thanked me over and over for "this amazing gift."
