Randomguy Posted December 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2014 Two of Lance Armstrong's longtime business associates have agreed to pay $500,000 to the United States government as part of a conditional settlement in a lawsuit filed by former Armstrong teammate Floyd Landis. Bill Stapleton, Armstrong's longtime agent, and Barton Knaggs, Armstrong's longtime business partner, also have agreed to pay $100,000 to the law office of Landis' attorney, Paul Scott. If approved by the U.S. government, the settlement would release Stapleton, Knaggs and their agency, Capital Sports & Entertainment, from Landis' lawsuit in exchange for their combined payments of $500,000 to the government and $100,000 to Scott. Landis filed his suit under seal in 2010, accusing Armstrong and others of defrauding the U.S. government when Armstrong was riding for the U.S. Postal Service cycling team. Randomguy Posted December 20, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted December 20, 2014 I am thinking they are getting off way, way light, or the the government is thinking that they could still lose on this one. This already looks like a loss to me.
