There was a foreign film where an assassin used kite string.

I didn't read the article but I know they have informal street matches between kite flyers. They coat their strings with broken glass in order to cut the competition's strings. Wear rags to prevent cuts to their hands.

I remember my dad saying the same.  Kite duals we’re a think in Indonesia in the 1920’s & 30’s and they would coat their strings near the kite with glue & finely crushed glass.

When I was about 12 years old, my father bought me a much larger than normal kite and my friends and I took it to the nearby public park to fly it.

The wind picked up a little at one point and I wasn't strong enough to stay in place holding it - it kept pulling me along.  I remember someone yelling, "Don't grab it by the string" when a couple friends tried to help.

Eventually we were able to get it to drop down during a lull in the wind and it got caught in an oak tree.  We got two older brothers of friends to climb up and retrieve it for us.
