Popular Post JerrySTL ★ Posted January 19 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 19 ...to see the Cards play. In May to Boston to see the Cards play the Red Sox three games. In June to London to see the Cards play the Cubs two games. We also are taking the entire family to the Gulf Shores in July and plan to go out West to see the Grand Canyon later in the year. I also signed up for the Hotter 'n Hell 100 in Texas in August. I did take out all the money from a small 403b which was enough to pay for the London trip. It's the first time that I've touched any of our investments since I retired 2.5 years ago. We figure that we should travel while we are young enough to do so. 2
Razors Edge ★ Posted January 19 Share #2 Posted January 19 I didn't realize you were a baseball fan! Honestly, while I really enjoy a baseball game, all sporting events are too much of a time sink for me to take while on vacation. In London, I'd have 1,000 other "new to me" things to do. A soccer game? Maybe, but a US baseball (or football) game is something I can do at home. Since you did the whole living in England thing, though, you might have knocked off all the stuff I would want to do already. But... "We figure that we should travel while we are young enough to do so." is TOTALLY A GREAT IDEA! All the plans you have are sweet!
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted January 19 Share #3 Posted January 19 I’d like to visit ballparks in other cities. I’ve been to Fenway many times. A great place to watch games. Pittsburgh is a place I want to go someday. 2

I'm way behind I've only hit Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Yankee Stadium, RFK and Nationals Park in DC, the Vet in Philly, and the Kingdome in Seattle. I walked around Fenway, but didn't go to a game. Pre-Nationals, I used to like to get tickets to Baltimore-Yankees at Camden Yards for me and some of my siblings. They'd come down from Jersey, and I'd go up from here, and it was WAY easier for all of us to go to a fun game, eat lots of tasty stadium food, have fast & easy access, and relatively cheap tickets - especially compared to any game at Yankee Stadium.

We took a taxi for the return trip. The taxi was kind of expensive (compared to the train) but we didn't need to carry all of the luggage in the tube. (that was a pain) We walked and took the tube to just about everywhere. Some places (like Stonehenge, Oxford,) we took trains and/or a bus. We visited Stonehenge the day after the summer solstice. Some of the Druids were still there.

Yeah, they’re Massholes, but I can be one too. Not ashamed to admit it.

I went with him ONCE in the car. We went to a shopping mall in Milwaukee. He needed to make a left turn into the mall. The left turn lane was backed up a LOT. Nope... he just drove in the left lane of traffic, when we got to the place to turn... he just turned. There were 2 lanes of traffic heading right at us. I figured we (or at least I would) die soon since they were going to hit my side of the car. He just kept going. I asked him... more like WTF... Why did you do that? "They have brakes." I never rode with him again.

Mrs. is a big fan, we used to go regularly, always got the same handicap seating, and got to know all the ushers and ticket people. Everyone was very nice, and went out of their way to help with Mrs. (she was in a wheelchair at the time) I miss those times. Jerry, do everything you want to do, you can lose the ability to do so in the blink of an eye. 1
