I thought that craze was over, but no. At least 9 dead in Monterey Park. East LA area.

The craze isn't over, but hopefully it's not going to become weekly again anymore.

There was a French language professor who didn't want to leave France and come to America because of all the murders here.  She was killed in the Virginia Tech Mass Murders several years back.

If you watch some of the British TV shows on PBS, some of them express concern about going to America because of the violence.

Hopefully, we're on a trend back toward civilization and will have fewer of these crimes.

Only because it's winter.  Soon the shooters will be able to hang outdoors again.

Unfortunately my estimate was correct.  There was more than one.....................and the day isn't over yet.

A dozen people wounded in early morning Louisiana nightclub shooting

The gunfire erupted an hour after the deadly, mass shooting in Monterey Park, California.

I am curious as to where your sense of optimism comes from?

I say "hopefully," I'm not optimistic.  When a large part of the country won't oppose the private ownership or AR-15 type mass murder weapons we'll have it happen relatively often.  Even the NRA was opposed to AR-15 type guns in the 90's before the gun manufacturers started "advertising" more with it.

But there was a point in a recent year where there was one mass shooting PER WEEK in the USA over the first half of the year.  Instead of once in a decade, we had gotten used to this deluge of killings.  I hope we're, at least, moving away from that.
