Square Wheels Posted December 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2014 I set an ambitious goal of 4000 miles for this year. I have 239 to go and probably no outside days, and inside miles are worse than getting a root canal. Plus with work, commuting, kids and the holiday's, there aren't a lot of basement opportunities. I might go for a ride with my wife now, it's in the lower 30's out there. I will give this my best shot. I took the 31st off of work, I fear I will be in the basement all day.
Dirtyhip Posted December 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 21, 2014 I will hit 3000. Many of them dirty miles. It's been raining all weekend. No motivation to get out in that.
bikeman564™ Posted December 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 21, 2014 My goal also is 4000 mi. I'd like to break my record of 6050, but that will not happen.

bikeman564™ Posted December 21, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 21, 2014 How close to 4000 are you? heck, I only rode 1100 this year. I meant my goal for next year
Road Runner Posted December 21, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 21, 2014 I haven't been able to ride much at all since early October. I'm stuck at just under 3,200.

Ralphie ★ Posted December 21, 2014 Share #9 Posted December 21, 2014 239 might be my total yearly mileage. But I am heading out now.
Road Runner Posted December 21, 2014 Share #10 Posted December 21, 2014 239 might be my total yearly mileage. But I am heading out now. You only need to ride 3,761 miles today to beat SW to his goal!
JerrySTL ★ Posted December 21, 2014 Share #11 Posted December 21, 2014 My annual goal is also 4K miles. I have about 3750 in this year so I'm in the same boat as SW. This will be my lowest mileage year since 1996. Weather hasn't been all that great. Work has kept me busy on too many weekends (I'm at work right now - don't tell my boss I'm posting here). Plus I had a few injuries that kept me off the bike during some prime riding time this year. Looking forward to 2015!
KrAzY Posted December 21, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 21, 2014 I refuse to set a goal for riding. I pedal just to pedal!
Square Wheels Posted December 21, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted December 21, 2014 Jerry, we can do it. I got 19 cold miles in today. Will do another 20 or so in class tomorrow. I might be able to ride outside on Christmas if it doesn't rain. I will get there!
Ralphie ★ Posted December 21, 2014 Share #14 Posted December 21, 2014 I refuse to set a goal for riding. I pedal just to pedal! And they call you Krazy. That is the sanest thing I heard today!

KrAzY Posted December 21, 2014 Share #16 Posted December 21, 2014 And, without a goal how many miles did you pedal? enough.. I'm not a numbers person, but if I was..... I would have to say roughly 700 this year.
Road Runner Posted December 21, 2014 Share #17 Posted December 21, 2014 And, without a goal how many miles did you pedal? I'm just guessing, but he probably doesn't track his mileage. Probably the best way to ride. Personally, I need to at least have an idea of what I hope my riding will be like (a goal, I guess) for the season. It helps to keep me motivated as I am an inherently lazy person with major procrastination issues. Without a goal, I would be constantly finding excuses and delaying my ride until tomorrow (the absolute greatest time to do anything).

The only real way to ride is to just go out and love the area you ride... miles do not matter in the least to me. Like I said it was roughly... give or take a few hundred.. Square Wheels Posted December 22, 2014 Author Share #20 Posted December 22, 2014 Ilike to do both. I like to track how much I did, how fast I did it, how much I climber, what kind of power I put out... but, if I didn't enjoy it I would just stop. Most of the time I enjoy riding. Riding indoors is awful, but I know it's making me stronger, so I so it.
Square Wheels Posted December 22, 2014 Author Share #21 Posted December 22, 2014 I'll be at 200 tomorrow, maybe 150 by the end of the week. I don't see how I can fit in the time.
