Randomguy Posted January 27 Author Share #3 Posted January 27 Just now, Further said: It is good, grainy and nutty Would you use it to make a sandwich, say PB & J or a lettuce and tomato sandwich, or is it just for toasting with butter and lots of it? I have not had it and am concerned I might waste the money if it is dry or goes bad in half an hour.
Further Posted January 27 Share #4 Posted January 27 It doesn’t strike me as sandwich bread. Rather heavy and full of grains and nuts I haven’t had any in a while Just slide a slice out of the loaf and try it. The store people will understand

I also keep some in the freezer. Usually I buy the full size loaf, but sometimes the thin slice loaf.

dinneR ★ Posted January 27 Share #7 Posted January 27 It's pretty good. I don't eat a lot of bread. Most of the time I make my own. If I buy some from the store, I'll pick up bread from a local bakery. If they are sold out of the local stuff, I'll buy Dave's. Maybe once every other year. Randomguy Posted January 27 Author Share #8 Posted January 27 Ok, some good information here! But which version? There seem to be infinite choices with this Killer Bread stuff.
sheep_herder ★ Posted January 27 Share #9 Posted January 27 We like it for just about any use mentioned, but I only buy it off the day-old shelf and refuse to pay full price for a loaf. Sometimes day-old is too expensive for our taste. I can buy a nice 12-grain at Albertsons for $2.49 and pay $10/loaf at the French Bakery when in Billings.

MickinMD ★ Posted January 27 Share #15 Posted January 27 2 hours ago, Kirby said: What's wrong with Wonder Bread? It's part of a story about the Pope. Taco Bell's CEO phoned the Pope and said he would donate $10 million per year to the Catholic Church if the Pope would change the Lord's Prayer to, "Give us this day our daily taco." The Pope presented the proposal to the College of Cardinals, which objected because it would mean losing the contract with Wonder Bread.
MickinMD ★ Posted January 27 Share #16 Posted January 27 Dave's killer bread is 110 Cal./slice, though it's relatively ok for diabetics with 17 net g carbs./slice. I've been eating breads that are lo-cal and less than 10 net g carbs/slice. I went from Schmidt's 40 Cal./slice 647 bread, which is much harder than white bread to Sara Lee's 45 Cal. Multigrain Bread, which is softer and tastier. Still, it's not perfect. So I'm now trying Sara Lee's 45 Cal. White Bread. I have a loaf of multigrain to go through before I get to it. There's also Meier's 40 Cal. Italian Bread, which isn't bad and much better than 647. So is Pepperidge Farm's 45 Cal bread, but the slices are very thin. Because all the people who work at the plant where they make it are convicted cereal killers. 1
