Popular Post sheep_herder ★ Posted January 28 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 28 The sunflower did well, receiving an Honorable Mention, and was bought by a local lady as I was leaving. An interesting thing happened, in that it was displayed as a vertical image, whereas I posed and modified it as a horizontal image. I think the confusion arose, as they told me to leave my photos, and they would affix the labels. Not sure, whether to mention the error to the staff, but I think it is important to mention my favored orientation to the lady that bought the photo. Not going to complain as it did well. Another local lady won 1st place with an oil painting of two snow geese. In visiting with her I learned that this was her first show, as it was mine, after the change in personnel at the WAM. We both had been absent for several years. Here is the original image. It was flipped 90 degrees to the right when displayed. The Juror really liked the detail and sharpness of focus, so orientation and sunlight in presentation were really not factors in his choice. 1

Kzoo Posted January 28 Share #3 Posted January 28 Your orientation is the only correct one. If flipped 90 degrees it gives it an odd feeling . The stem isn’t right, even for a sunflower that has a shepherds hook stem at the top. And it flips the sun position to late afternoon and the light quality for late afternoon isn’t right. I’d talk with the buyer if possible.
Popular Post groupw Posted July 4 Popular Post Share #4 Posted July 4 @sheep_herder I wanted to thank you and give you credit for inspiring me! Took me a little while to search posts on other media as well before I found your post. We went out to a local sunflower field last week with some friends. First time I have handled the SLR since the wreck. 4
