Road Runner Posted December 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2014 I must be REALLY out of it (I guess that goes without saying). I stumbled across this in a local news ad. People are doing this near me, and I have never heard of it before. It sounds like the perfect scam. Open a business where people pay money to come in and just float for 30 minutes. Have you ever done this?
KrAzY Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2014 What happens if a person can not float? I sink like a rock anytime I try it in a large body of water... I think I would drowned! Will the hot chick be in there to help me float?
UglyBob Posted December 23, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2014 I've had my share of floaters, but no one has ever paid me for it...

Road Runner Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted December 23, 2014 Do they change the water between floaters? You know someone ( ) will pee in it. No. You take a shower right before and after floating, so you have plenty of opportunity to relieve yourself.
Square Wheels Posted December 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 23, 2014 Their site says they only have one location, it's for rednecks only at this point.

Road Runner Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted December 23, 2014 It wouldn't be too bad if they had a TV mounted in the lid so you could watch "Jaws" while floating.

Road Runner Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted December 23, 2014 Their site says they only have one location, it's for rednecks only at this point. I'm assuming the owners probably ran a tanning salon before this. The tanning business has been hurt by all of the talk of skin cancer, so some one must have come up with this flotation idea as a replacement. Same business plan: (1) Hire some high school girl at minimum wage to sit at the front desk and take the money. (2) The suckers, er, customers go into the back rooms and lay on tanning beds in water tubs. (3) Rake in dough.
Road Runner Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #16 Posted December 23, 2014 So you're laying on a pile of epsom salts. That sounds miserable. /Did not watch the video. Go to 1:05 if interested in the makeup of the water. 1,200 lbs of epsom salts in 11 inches of water heated to 93 F.

Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted December 24, 2014 Share #22 Posted December 24, 2014 About ten years ago I saw a documentary on this, narrated by Tom Cruise of all people. It was a lot like the tank in the OP, except the floating people got some kind of tin foil hat.
JerrySTL ★ Posted December 24, 2014 Share #23 Posted December 24, 2014 Do they change the water between floaters? You know someone ( ) will pee in it. When it comes to floaters, it's not pee that I'm worried about. Think Bill Murray, Caddyshack, swimming pool, and the music to Jaws...
Kzoo Posted December 24, 2014 Share #24 Posted December 24, 2014 I remember floating a few times back in the 70's but there wasn't any water involved.
