Looks like the driver was a crazy person. One dead, the rest injured. NEW YORK (AP) — A man who went on a deadly rampage with a U-Haul truck Monday in New York City was suffering from an apparent mental health crisis and said he started mowing people down after seeing an “invisible object” coming toward him, police said Tuesday. Weng Sor, 62, was charged Tuesday with murder and attempted murder in the attack, which unfolded over a harrowing 48 minutes over a large swath of Brooklyn’s bustling Bay Ridge neighborhood. Police eventually pinned the truck against a building after a miles-long chase.

Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted February 15 Share #6 Posted February 15 We need some laws that prevent people from renting U-Hauls and/or suspend their driver's license if someone thinks the person is going to do something like this, or if the person starts talking or acting in a suspicious or threatening manner.

Or more good people with their own U-Hauls need to step up their game!

Although TK's suggestion is solid, good guys with U-Hauls can stop bad guys in U-Hauls like you said, so we just don't have to worry much about anomalies like this. It does bring up a good point about what takes the place of guns, and there is just no replacing an AR or the like for mass killings. It is easier to see a U-Haul coming and get out of the way than dodging a coupla hundred rounds fired willy nilly.

Give each kid a U-Haul and they are safe to play in the streets again!

In my experience they’re not rented with full gas tanks. “Bring it back 7/8s empty or there’s a surcharge”. I rented a UHaul near Chattanooga TN once. We were in EDST. The UHaul place was in CDST. I was told 20 times about the hour difference for a 10 mile drive. The truck had no gas. The gas station was over the next hill. I didn’t think I would make it at 18 mph on a 65 mph highway. We drove that (full) truck from Chattanooga to Dayton to move my MIL from her sister’s because they couldn’t get along.
