maddmaxx ★ Posted March 4, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2023 The jet enroute from NH to VA encountered severe turbulence and a passenger on board was killed. Since Wilbur was coming home from Portugal I'm pretty sure this had nothing to do with him. Wilbur ★ Posted March 5, 2023 Share #5 Posted March 5, 2023 It was a rough day crossing the Atlantic over 3 previous storms and the associated jet stream. We were over Maine for a short while but slightly before the turbulence mayhem. Based on the forecast, I told the owner and his wife to hold onto their dog and stay belted in. Keep those belts on, folks. 1

Sometimes it will too late when you figure out that you need the belt on. I started wearing a seat belt in my car in 1977. I figured I was young and stupid, and my Z28 Camaro could end up being upside down on the road. I didn't get the T-tops the sales guy wanted me to buy either. I told him, "I want steel above my head when I roll the car." When I started dating WoBG... she got to wear a seat belt too, and at first she didn't like it. Back then... just about no one used the belts. 3
maddmaxx ★ Posted March 5, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted March 5, 2023 I started wearing belts back in 68 when I began racing. At first all we had was lap belts. I didn't think very much of the belts when they went to the modern unibelt system. The Daytona had racing shoulder straps.

If true, that must have been quite a bit of turbulence. I've wondered about the heavy carry-on baggage put into the storage bins and turbulence. Like you, I keep the belt on. I wore a seatbelt from that day forward
